Dann Spader founded Sonlife Ministries in 1979 to help local youth leaders build effective youth ministries. For the first decade, Moody Bible Institute served as a base for Dann to develop training materials and build a network of youth leaders in the Chicago area.
Dann invested into this network of youth workers for many years through mentoring, coaching and training. During this time he developed “Growing a Healthy Youth Ministry” training that was centered on the life and ministry of Jesus.
As these youth leaders moved to other parts of the United States, they began to expand the influence of Sonlife’s training. By 1990 Sonlife had become a ministry with a growing national presence, training thousands of youth workers annually.
In 1993, Sonlife broadened it’s focus beyond youth ministry with “Growing a Healthy Church” (GHC) training. This training focused on helping pastors throughout North America to build disciplemaking ministries.
